My passion for helping families navigate homecare for their loved ones was born out of deep personal experience.

Growing up, I shared a special bond with my paternal grandparents, Bobsie and Buddy, spending many memorable summers on their idyllic Virginia farm. Witnessing Bobsie's gradual decline due to Alzheimer's in her later years was heartbreaking, but Buddy's determination to care for her allowed them to continue living on the farm. Their farm was more than the home they built themselves – it was where their most cherished memories lived and where they wanted to spend the rest of their lives. Sadly, as Bobsie's care needs increased and with no viable home care options at the time, they eventually needed to move away from their farm and into a memory care facility in town.

My maternal grandparents in Texas faced a similar challenge when my “wildcatter” grandfather “BC” developed dementia in his later years. Fortunately, in-home care options were available in their town. Agency care was the easiest to set up quickly, but delivered inconsistent care and too many new faces, and during the COVID pandemic, the scarcity of caregivers forced out-of-town family (and often my grandfather’s former office manager) to come to the rescue several times. Eventually, through our church community network, we found direct-hired care, though not without its own set of challenges. We struggled with the weeks of work required to find new caregivers as we moved to 24/7 care (posting jobs, vetting candidates, doing background checks). Eventually, as if by fate, a compassionate caregiver named Gabriel came into their lives. He bonded with BC and Grandmuddy and became their “forever friend”. Toward the end of their lives, when BC’s dementia was at its most severe, Gabriel was still taking BC and Grandmuddy to picnic lunches at a nearby park. Even in his deteriorating cognitive state, when BC might not know who his family members were, he inherently knew he could trust Gabriel. BC and Gabriel were the perfect senior/caregiver match.

Since BC and Grandmuddy’s passing, it has become my passion to recruit only the best caregivers and match them with great families in Charlotte. We deeply vet our caregivers and get to know our clients needs intimately before making a match.  My goal is to offer our community the benefits that BC and Grandmuddy had through direct hiring – control over care, lower caregiver turnover and deeper caregiver relationships – while also including needed assurances they didn’t have (insurances, payroll service, technology for tracking homecare and LTCI billing).
