Josa has made a few career moves in search of a position that would allow her to give back to her community. After earning an accounting degree and CPA license, she worked as an accounting supervisor for a human resources nonprofit, thinking that would provide enough of a connection to caregiving. However, she soon realized that it was important for her to work directly with people, particularly the elderly.
This realization led her to leave her job and earn a degree in Occupational Therapy. She went on to open a dementia care unit, where she trained staff and developed a cognitive, activity-based program for the unit.
While raising her daughter, she worked in a federally funded program that researched the efficacy of a newly developed cognitive, activity-based program. Throughout her career, she has also continued to work with her husband’s video production business, managing the business operations, bookkeeping, and tax preparation. They have also owned several commercial real estate properties.
Hallmark Homecare is unlike the traditional homecare model because it is a referral agency for caregiver recruitment and client matchmaking (the eHarmony of homecare). Clients save money, receive better care, and have more control. Caregivers earn higher wages and enjoy a better work arrangement.
